What is a bowl mount and why does it matter?
A bowl is a hemispherical socket between the legs and the head, so the head can be tilted and locked level independently of the legs. On uneven ground you loosen one knob, bring the bubble to centre and lock it, instead of adjusting three leg lengths by trial and error. It is the biggest single time saver on a location tripod.
Is carbon fibre worth it over aluminium?
